These berries have a delicious flavor and are excellent for freezing, canning, baking, and eating fresh! Raspberry 'Canby' is a dormant plant selected by DeGroot, offering you the opportunity to get a head start to the season! Due to its dormant state, this plant may lack foliage until it is planted. Q: I bought 8 of these 3weeks ago and planted them the next day. Not one plant has a bud. I contacted degroot no answer.. I paid 8.99 ea & know how to grow...my other bare root trees purchased elsewhere are leafed out. Whats the problem here
a year ago- A: Dear NormaJean, Our product is dormant, packaged bare root plants intended to be without foliage (leaves) while in the store. Dormant plants such as these offer the opportunity to jumpstart spring planting because they can be planted in the ground earlier than potted plants. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 6-8 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth. Raspberries, in particular, like to start with their roots before showing visible growth above the soil.
