Q: What is the actual content of this sheet. It seems there are additives in addition to cork. It has a strong industrial chemical smell, and I was planning to use it in the kitchen, around food.

All of which are designed to resist various oils and chemicals in the intended commercial and industrial applications. The chemical smell is likely the rubber materials or binding agents in the material. This product is not intended to be used in any application that may be exposed to food or water for consumption. Those products typically need to be FDA or NSA approved. These products are neither.5 years agoHelpful?
