Good item but no good with out replacement stones
10 years ago
This is an excellent sharpener. Problem is driving 120 miles both ways to TSC store to find out they are out of stock on the stones. Replacements should be available online with having to drive so far to find out they are out of stock. Sharpener is worthless with out stones.

Garbage.
I bought this with optimism but it quickly was diminished for the following reasons:
1. Guide nut fit that screws onto the motor housing body had loose threads with so much clearance, putting it on firmly would cause it to skip threads. I remedied this with JB Weld (epoxy).
2. Guide will shift position easily; there are two self tapping screws that are there but with no serrations of mechanism to lock it into position, it will slide during use.
3. The switch burned out within the first 30 minutes of use; this is a sliding switch, the contacts must have burned out due to lack of amp capacity for its intended use. This rendered the tool to Garbage status.
4. The grinder stones (rotary files) failed within minutes of use; stones material is glued onto a short stub of the tool shaft, a better design would be to have it fully pass through with the abrasive bonded onto the shaft. These stones, break up and or fall off the short piece of shaft they are bonded to.
Because I modified (had to) the grinder to use it effectively, I would not attempt to return it, it was my call, I am a licensed Marine Chief Engineer with decades of experience, I found this product to be JUNK but the low price was a good lure.
Now that I know better, if I was to go this route again, I would buy a tool guide for a dremel tool. I have also seen diamond rotary files for sale and would purchase those instead.

Bearing too tight
The bearing that contains the rotating shaft is too tight, with the result that my unit did not operate: the switch provoked a small angular movement, but the shaft did not spin. Happily, the head fits on a dremel body, so I got some value for my investment in the end.

12 volt but uses alligator clips
Not everyone has a 12 volt battery in their shop... Inconvenient...
Biggest drawback
is it only sharpens the teeth, does not file the
rake (depth Guage)... If the rake is left higher than the tooth, the blade will not cut properly..
