Q: Can the float be removed so the pump will run continuously

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, the Float can be Removed. BUT, this Unit Cannot Run Continuously. This is an OIL Filled Pump. The Oil will Get Hot and come Out and Burn the Unit UP. This is why the Float is on the Unit to Turn it ON, Evacuate the Water and Shut Off. During the Shut Off Time the Oil will Cool the Motor. If you are Looking for a Continuously Running Unit, Get the Flotec Model FP0S3000X. This is a Water Cooled Unit.

Q: Can this product be used for a swimming pool

1 Answer
  • A: No, not as a Continues Running Unit. If it is used on the Top of the Pool Cover, to take the Water Off, Yes. But it has to be Watched, so that when there is No Water on the Pool Cover, the Unit has to be Shut of Manually. There is No Automatic Switch on the Unit. If the Unit was to be Used as a Slide or Water Fountain in the Poo, NO. If used as a Slide or Fountain, you need the FP0S3000X or FP0S4100X.

Q: Can you just plug in pump and by-pass float

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, But the Unit should be Only Able to run for about 15 to 20 Minutes the Off for about 30 Minute to Cool. Then be able to Run for the Next 15 to 20 Minutes. The Best is to use the Float Switch to be an Automatic Unit.

Q: can you hookup to a garden hose

  • A: No, This has a 1-1/2” NPT Pipe, to discharge the Water from. If you put a Garden Hose on this Unit, it will destroy the Motor in a Very Short Time.

Q: The motor make a loud hum when there is no water to pump. Is this normal or indication the float switch is bad?

1 Answer
  • A: Few thing that it could be. 1. There may be some Debris that is in the Impeller Area that is Stopping it from Turning. If the Debris is cleared out, Good Unit. 2. The Float Switch could be Stuck, not able to Move Up and Down on the Rod. 3. Could be the Discharge Pipe has a Blockage in it. 4. Make sure that the 2 (Two) Cords are NOT Plugged into the Wall Outlet Individually. Both Cords are to be Plugged into Each Other, then Only 1 (ONE) Cord into the Wall Outlet. 5. Could be a Bad Capacitor in the Motor. 6. Last of all, Yes, it could be a Bad Float.
