This shredder is top of the notch best tool in my inventory to get the job done, all my shrubs were easily poof gone turned to mulch

I purchased this chipper/shredder at the end of June but have only been able to really work it now Thanksgiving week. I had a Craftsmen chipper that I used in the woods in Maine for about a decade in the 90s to 2000s, so that is my comparator. First, this machine has great power, similar to that I remember from the Craftsman--almost no bogging down, even under significant loads. It's also quieter, lighter, and has significantly more safety features; it also seems far more efficient, so I have to refill the gas less frequently. The rubber guards on both chipper and shredder are appreciated--much safer than my previous chipper. The guards do prevent smaller branches from going into the chipper, however; I have to remove them and drop them into the shredder. And as the manual states, the machine does a much better job with drier wood. I'm on an island in the Pacific Northwest, so working at this time of year means wet wood--the shredder sometimes doesn't completely shred twigs and branches. I don't chip anything larger than about a 2-inch diameter, since I use larger branches for firewood, but the chipper's capacity seems as advertised. I do miss the drop down chute on the shredder that I had before--that made raking leaves right into the machine easy (of course, that also could mean stones and other debris, so I'm fine with the lack of that feature). Another feature appreciated is the zipper on the bottom of the bag--it makes it much easier to unload, and less wear and tear on the drawstring. Finally, I haven't been able to assess durability yet, but it seems like a fine machine that should last me until I can no longer can do this work on my own! While the Craftsman was easy for me to operate, that was 30 years ago, so I appreciate the convenience of this machine. So far, definite 5 out of 5.

This is an great chipper. Very happy with the purchase. The only thing that went wrong is it jams sometimes but the way it is built you can easly unjam it. Would recomend.
