Warmblood is a classification used to describe horses that have a bloodline that crossed a "hot-blooded" breed (like the Thoroughbred or Arabian) with a "cold-blooded" breed (drafts). The resulting middle-weight horse typically possesses height, substantial bone, and incredible athletic prowess! While "warmblood" is not a breed itself, there are many warmblood registries with their own standards. You may recognize some, like the Selle Franais, Hanoverian, and Irish Sport Horse. If you've ever watched the equestrian events at the Olympics, then chances are you've seen a warmblood in action! Their stature and strength make them the ideal mount for jumping, dressage, and eventing. Handsome Warmblood gelding Maxwell sports a richly-shaded liver chestnut coat with sabino markings. Sabino markings appear like "splashes" of white on the horse's belly and flank, and are usually accompanied by white legs.
