Q: would this potting soil be good for Siberian iris? I want to separate and transplant mine and they require two parts peat-free soil mixed with one part perlite

  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Per the vendor, "Our soils are made from processed forest products, coir, limestone, fertilizer, mycorrhizae, and moisture-balancing yucca. Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Please read through each soil bag's exact ingredients in case you have any allergies to any of these ingredients. If very severe, we'd recommend being careful using our soils & talking to a doctor first. All of our bagged soil has poultry litter, feather meal, and sulfate of potash."

Miracle Soil

The Back to the Roots potting mix brought my plants back to live, just look at the picture for evidence. The consistency of the soil is perfect, it’s not dense and overly dry also didn’t find a lot of filler and “junk” like in the other brands. Can’t wait to see what this soil can do for the rest of the plants around the house. Stay tuned and thank you Back to the Roots for the free product, it was wonderful.

An excellent choice for gardening!

This was my first time using Back to the roots Organic All-Purpose Potting Mix. The mix feels light and easy to work with rather than dense and heavy. The bag contains 1 cubic feet of soil and the mix is formulated to provide a suitable growing environment for a variety of herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers. I wasn’t able to find the exact pH number listed for this particular mix. I liked how the soil held moisture without the need of constant watering. I also liked that it contained yucca extract, which helps the soil stay hydrated. The mix also contained organic plant food. I really liked the balance between moisture retention and drainage. Overall, I feel this potting soil is peat free, easy to handle, and contains plant nutrients. It is an excellent choice for gardening.
