Arrow 20 ft. x 29 ft. Carport Charcoal

The Arrow all steel carport is not cheap but it is very sturdy-- unlike the many less expensive alternatives that are smaller and flimsy in structure. Assembling the structure takes some time for the non-professional like myself, but once some initial issues were overcome it went smoothly. Essentially all of the many pieces fitted together easily; only one required some strikes from a sledge hammer to get a part connected to it (there was a very slight bend to the square end of one of the support beams, which likely occurred during shipping). The assembly manual is almost all drawings with little verbal assistance but the drawings are very clear. There were only two that caused me problems, the first being step 6 concerning the placement of arrow-like devices into the ground to anchor the structure (from wind). I had no idea what these were and made a mistake on the first one I deployed: a rod used for pounding the device into the ground has rubber tips, which I inserted into the device as instructed by the drawing; once the device has been sufficiently pounded down deep enough the rod is pulled out and used for another one of the devices (there is one for each upright on the unit, 14 in all in my model). But as I did not remove the rubber tip beforehand the rod stuck and would not eject no matter how hard I tried; it had to be sawed off at ground level. There was no guidance in the assembly manual about removing the rubber tip. Thankfully the assembly kit contained three such rods (I purchased the 20X29' model) and I have been careful with the two remaining-- which ejected from the device with ease without the rubber tip in place. The second problem is that the trusses are very heavy once assembled and I think it would be very difficult for a single person to raise them up and get them into the uprights. The manual shows a ladder but given the weight and how it's distributed over the truss, such a procedure would certainly have been impossible if I were doing this alone. (A neighbor had a tractor and he came over and lifted the trusses up one-by-one with the fork lift and we got them into the uprights with ease that way; there were a total of seven on the 20x29 unit.) I could not have done this step without his assistance.) But all in all I found this to be an excellent product and would gladly purchase it again or recommend it to others.
