Profits over quality

It's a nice size for the deck and is pretty clear to read. If only the temperature was close to being correct. It has a convenient slot in the back allowing the user to 'calibrate' it against a real thermometer. However it is only close if the temps stay close to the calib. temp. If it goes much higher or lower the reading easily falls 10 deg off. I have to re-calibrate every season to the new temp range. It would be prefect in Hawaii though, where the temps stay about 80.

Inaccurate Temperature Readings

This was easy to hang, but it was literally never accurate. It seemed to always run 5-10 degrees warmer than it actually was and when I put another thermometer next to it to check, it would be off from anywhere between 10 and 20 degrees. AcuRite is usually a really god brand, but this was a waste of money.

We apologize that your thermometer is reading inaccurately, but we would be happy to assist! Analog thermometers may need to be calibrated from time to time or even just after purchasing the product. The pointer may move during shipping, causing the thermometer to read inaccurately. If the thermometer is reading incorrectly, compare the reading to a known accurate thermometer. Let both units adjust for at least three hours. Depending on the product, there may be a knob or screw on the back of the thermometer to calibrate the temperature. If the new thermometer continues to read inaccurately, adjust the pointer by turning knob or screw on the back of the unit in the appropriate direction.
If there is no knob or screw for calibration, you will need to adjust the pointer by hand. If the temperature reading is too low, slowly push the needle up to the highest temperature and then slowly let it follow your finger back down until the needle stops on its own. Never let the needle swing back wildly on its own as this can permanently damage the thermometer. When the needle stops, it will stop a degree or two higher than where it was originally set. Repeat this process until the needle stops at an accurate temperature reading. If the thermometer is too high, follow this same process only pushing the needle down to the lowest temperature.
If this does not correct the issue, please reach out to our support team via live chat or email request on the AcuRite Support website.

The spring thermometers can't read below 40F

I bought three of these all they all works until it got below 40F. None of them could go below 40F even when it was 27F outside. I returned them and got the combo thermometers that used mercury and the spring. The mercury worked fine but the spring portion didnt work at all on one and got stuck on 40F on another. Where the heck is quality control if 5 out of 5 products didn't work and there were two different models. Crazy.
