With the Zareba 10 Mile Solar Low Impedance Fence Charger, your fence can be powered from anywhere, even the most remote fields. This fence charger runs up to 2 weeks without sunlight and is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. With 0.15 output joules, this energizer will support animals and livestock such as cattle, horses, bulls, and goats. If using poly products, you should expect about half of the power from the energizer. The more material along the fence line, the harder the energizer must work to pass voltage through the line. A well-kept fence line will provide optimal voltage from the energizer along the fence. To prepare the 10 Mile Solar Charger for first use, place it in full sun for 3 days in the off position. After this time has passed, the unit is ready to use and install. Set the charger's built-in mounting bracket onto a T-post, Y-post, or round-wood post. The durable case will protect the energizer through various weather conditions. This charger is tested with a full load at our manufacturing facility and comes with a 1-Year Limited Warranty including damage from lightning.

I bought two of these. One I use to keep the bears out of the bee hives and the second was after a bear got a couple of our chickens. I have mine set up with alternating hot and ground wires spaced about 8 inches apart for the bees. For the chickens I used the wire hardware cloth as the ground and used insulators as standoffs to keep the hot wires a couple of inches off the hardware cloth. For something to get shocked it needs to touch two wires (bees) or a wire and the hardware cloth (chickens). If you do, you get the full force - ask me how I know. No critter problems since.

This thing is a joke

We bought this 6 weeks ago to save money on the electric bill. Single strand of poly makes up less than a single mile in total. A little over kill but we plan to expand the existing fence area so we treated as an investment. The poly sits above 5 strand barbed wire and thank god for that or my horses would be gone! They know all kinds of fence materials so running through isn't my problem.Took about four days before I witnessed my horses leaning OVER the electric to graze the other side. Checked my connections, there are 3 in total. Insulators are on, no obvious grounding out. Checked the ground, yup looks fine. Checked that there was nothing obstructing the solar panels, yup looks fine. Grab the tester...nothing!!!!! Checked again faint jump on the reader. Kept standing there. Pulses were over 2 minutes apart! Are you kidding me? I hate getting shocked but I stood there anyway. It tickled. Took a second one. Same.

Thank you for taking to the time to provide this feedback! Was the energizer charged before use? We recommend charging the unit for three days in the off position. Then, test the energizer using a fence tester across the terminals with both the fence and grounding wires removed. The reading should be 9,500 volts (+/- 20%).
