Change is sometimes unneccessary

I've been wearing Wrangler Red and white label carpenter jeans for decades. Now they have to change everything? Move the utility pockets to the left side? Move the hammer loop to the right side? Reinforce the area where the knife clip goes? WHY?
I am going to buy a test pair, but I do not hold any hope the wrangler is going to retrain this old guy.

Small waist long leg

These fit small in the waist and long in the inseam. Luckily I knew that and bought them 2 points larger (40 instead of 38) in the waist. They almost fit perfectly. I would have had to return if I bought my size
