The Troy-Bilt 18 in. 42cc Gas TB4218 Chainsaw features a 42cc, full crank, 2-cycle engine. This gas chainsaw comes with SpringAssist technology for easier pull starts and a 18 in. low-kickback bar and chain cuts through limbs fast. The adjustable, automatic bar and chain oiler ensures proper lubrication, while the automatic, inertia activated chain brake adds operator safety. The 3-point anti-vibration handles and lightweight design allows for easier handling and greater comfort. This Troy-Bilt chainsaw also comes with 2-cycle engine oil and a 2-year limited warranty.

Q: Can I assume that the C in another 4218 saw model number and the higher price means it is California-compliant?

  • A: Hi Prickly Ash. The C may indicate that the model includes a carrying case. California compliant models would have the indication of CA instead. Thank you for your question.

Q: Does anyone know of a replacement chain for this saw? I didn’t have any luck looking in store.

  • A: Hi Brandon. For model # 41AY4218766, it depends on the length of your specific chain. For an 18" chain, part # 713-05042 will be compatible. For a 16" chain, part # 713-05276 will be compatible. For a 14" chain, part # 713-05277 will be compatible. Thank you for your question.

I wanted to leave another review. I have finished a few more projects and it still doing a great job. Got this saw at a great price on clearance and it has really surprised me and the 18” bar is a must. Really starting to like it more.

Effective for light duty

It has been a good tool for light work on the acreage clearing dead trees and branches. I feel like I have to be gentle with it. I wouldn't recommend it for regular usage.

Have used this saw a few times now and it has started great and cuts great. I probably wouldn’t buy it to go logging with but for a home owner it works great and does the job.
