The Tough1 Easy Breathe Poly/Nylon Grazing Muzzle is great for controlling over-eating. This easy-to-use muzzle controls over-eating by limiting intake through the small opening at the bottom. This nylon muzzle has large holes in front for easy breathing. This adjustable nylon muzzle comes with a throat snap and ring for leading.Adjust the strength of the "quick grip" crown piece depending on how much of the closure you insert: The harder to breakaway needs more closure, the easier to breakaway needs less.

  • Features large holes in the front for easy breathing
  • Adjustable nylon muzzle is great for controlling over-eating
  • Black nylon grazing muzzle has a throat snap and ring for leading
  • Offers control for horses that tend to over-eat

Best Grazing Muzzle

I have tried other muzzles and this one is better than any I have tried. My horse is much more comfortable in it and does not even try to rub it off. It has larger holes for breathing and the shape is a little roomier. There have been no rub marks at all. My horse will never be happy wearing a grazing muzzle, but at least with this one he spends his time grazing and not trying to rub it off on his pasture mates.

Not tough at all

My horse is insulin resistant so has to have her weighed and portioned out. I picked this muzzle up on a Thursday afternoon and by Sunday late day she had worn through the rubber to make the hole larger so she still consumes the hay as fast as the double nibble net bags.

Best I have used

Best I have used. The basket is small in circumference for a very large horse. Mine is a warmblood and the large basket fits him. May be snug for a drafty head. The halter adjusts well everywhere. I wish it had padding, but you can add that. It has a snap closure which is helpful for getting on and off easily. The best parts are the open breathing space and the “eating hole” is a better size than most. Most are too small.

Hard for horse to remove - with modifications

So I am here to buy muzzle #2. Long story, but my trainer made modifications to the first one to include taping the velcro closed, and putting a second "throatlatch" out of twine higher up where one usually goes (as opposed to the one the halter comes with that buckles in front of the jowl). This worked great and my horse couldn't remove it! Then... well, she got it hung up and the breakaway features the trainer taped shut somehow failed. Who knew! The good news is, as she lifted a gate off its hinges and could've tried to run with it stuck to her face, the rubber tabs holding the nose onto the nylon gave way and the muzzle released off the gate. So props for additional safety features - we are going with that rather than a quality / stitching issue - in case you are as gullible as I was and tape the velcro on yours too. The muzzle ripping apart possibly saved her life (she is big and dumb and young, and can panic with the best of them).

Doesn't last long

I have bought five of these for my pony over this year. She has rubbed off four of them and they were unfortunately destroyed by the brush hog. The one that has not been rubbed off in the pasture, worked VERY WELL, WHILE IT LASTED. The area around the little hole wore so thin in less than two week's time! She is out grazing all day and night with the rest of the herd. She needs it to prevent obesity and laminitis. Lately, I have been repairing it with duct tape to keep the hole small. Just wishing it was more durable.
