I bought this auger fishtail tip because the screw type bit that new 9” auger came with kept getting stuck repeatedly in hard clay. This tip does the job but it’s kind of slow because it’s not very sharp. Also I don’t think it’s going to last long as it gets very hot to the touch. It sort of feels like a dull or cheap drill bit burning its way through wood. That being said, it’s way better than the screw type bit that came on the new auger for drilling clay. So if you have lots of holes to drill in hard compact clay soil you might want to buy a higher quality one. If your just looking to drill less than 10 holes this one works.

The bit fit the TSC auger and worked as it should

Works well with red clay soil. Tractor supply should regionally supply the proper bit for their augers. The corkscrew type auger bit that comes supplied is too aggressive and will potentially get stuck if you’re not careful. The fishtail auger will remove smaller rocks and I could go to about 32 inches without any problems.

Our part was lost and then it was found. But we had to drive round trip twice of two hours each time before we finally got it. Then I also had other items with the order, and they did not come in with it.In fact, that side of the order got lost. So I called customer service and they fixed it.But even with the issues, they still would not send it to my home, they wanted to charge me. So a third two hour round trip to go, pick up the rest of the order when it came in a week later. They could have made a customer very happy by just picking up the six or eight dollar shipping cost.
