Q: Does this sealant require installation of backing rod first?

1 Answer
  • A: Titebond WeatherMaster Concrete Joint Sealant is self-leveling and will fill any cavity. Use of backer rod will reduce the amount of sealant needed for the application and help to form a sealant bead that is not as thick (maximum depth should be 1/2 inch for best results) to reduce the amount of stress placed on the substrate during movement. Backer rod is not required but is highly recommended.

Q: Does it come in brown?

1 Answer
  • A: No, but you can buy Titebond WeatherMaster Ultimate MP Sealant in a brown. The difference is that the Titebond WeatherMaster Ultimate MP Sealant is not self-leveling, and you may have to tool the sealant in place. Leaving the sealant in a thin film can cause color changes over time so best not to tool it too thin.

Q: I have a grey stamped concrete patio that has a one inch crack at a joint. Will this product fill a crack that large and stay in place?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, Titebond WeatherMaster Concrete Joint Sealant will fill a one inch or larger gap, but it is self-leveling and will flow to the bottom of the concrete slab if you do not fill the crack with sand or use a foam backer rod. We recommend filling the gap with sand or backer rod leaving a 1/2-inch-deep trough to fill with the sealant. Call our help line at 800347-4583 if you have further questions.

Q: Is this paintable?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, Titebond WeatherMaster Concrete Joint Sealant (self-leveling) is paintable once the sealant has cured enough that a paintbrush will not disturb the cured surface (usually 1-2 hours, longer if humidity is below 50%).

Excellent to seal up gaps in concrete

We used this to seal the gap between the concrete and retaining wall cap around our pool. We made sure the gap was back filled as much as possible with stone dust then applied this to seal it up water tight. It was easy to use and left a really nice polished look.
