this product will be much thicker than the basic any surface water seal. if you try and use a pump sprayer as the directions say be prepared to roll or brush out the excess immediately in small sections or have a very fine limited amount of spray. the multi-surface product goes great with a pump sprayer. it is mu8ch thinner and absorbs into the wood much quicker. before i realized it the surface was beginning to dry with the excessive sealer on the wood still and the look is interesting to say the least. it looks like the vampires skin in those twilight movies. the multi surface sealer part does not. im sure it will quickler wear off but should be sealed for much longer.

My husband and I spent all last summer building a fence around our 1 acre property. We just non-presure treated lumbar and applied the Thompsons WaterSeal clear wood sealer to our lumbar as directed. We have a large area and ended up buying 3 large 5 gallons of the product which is not cheap. it passed the bead test and everything looked great when we finished the fence last fall. It says the product is supposed to protect the wood for 4-5 years, however we are already having issues only a few months later. We are not going to invent in the money to re-treat the wood since it barely lasted a few months.
