These are about the ideal max size for a hanging bucket. On a big tree and a warm afternoon you might need to empty more than once. They will support the weight of an overflow with no evident compromise of the hanger hole. They do make those 5liter "buckets" a joke on any good day. It is nice to be able to see the sap level without actually going to each tree. My only nit is that they really don't like to be frozen solid. No failures, but you can see the plastic changing where it has been stretched. Tap late on evenings when the temperature is expected to drop hard. They will work on modern SS spiles with a short hook. They are better for the more modern 5/16 plastic spiles with a 160° hook. That combination is highly wind resistant.
