The SmartStraps Retractable Ratchet is a heavy duty tie down for securing heavier loads often hauled in a pick-up truck or on a medium trailer such as motorcycles, ATVs or appliances. Patented technology allows the straps to be installed in just 15 seconds per tie down with no feeding straps in, no tying off ends or removing webbing from the ratchet - the strap stays permanently affixed and self-contained. Broke after 1 use

I bought the pair, love the concept, but one of them already won't retract after 1 use. Sounds like the spring on the inside has broke, and will not retract the strap.

First time use was today May 10 2025, had to go pickup my Zero Turn and straped it down. Rechecked my load about 10 miles and both Rachet Straps had just broke and flew off the trailer. Worst Rachet Straps every have bought

Very disappointing

I’ve used them only a few times and the external metal tabs that engage the ratcheting teeth have bent on 2 straps, so they won’t engage and tighten. I used and loved the standard weight straps for the exact same loads for several years without issues until the webbing started to wear out. Because I was happy with the previous straps I replaced them with the same style and brand, just increasing to the heavier duty model for an additional margin of safety. While the webbing and ratcheting mechanism may have a heavier weight rating, these important little tabs are the weak link and are inferior to those on the previous, lighter weight straps.

No, I do not recommend this product.
