Shop Fox D2260A-Mini Mobile Base

My shopfox drill press was originally bolted to my shop floor and was fine until I built my sauna. Instead of having my drill mounted permanently it was obvious it would be more useful on a mobile base so it could be stored out of the way most of the time but easily accessible when needed. I looked at every base on the market and settled on this one because it offered the most flexible design with the lowest profile and secure mounting. The key design feature is the ability to have the front pivoting wheels as outriggers on the front and the fixed castors to the rear for maximum stability. It worked out great. My only wish would be that the stability pads were foot operated instead of having to bend down and twist a hand wheel to deploy but I only use the drill press a couple times a month so it’s not really that big of a deal. I highly recommend taking a close look at the features this model offers especially the heavy duty ball bearing castors.

This is a well designed and well made mobile base. I got tired of standing on a lever to pick the tool up and set it down, and tired of trying to lock the wheels of other casters to keep the unit from moving. I don’t mind kneeling down to spin the knobs up or down to keep the base set or mobile. Much easier to use! Thank you grizzly shop fox!!

I bought this a few months ago when I started building my shop. I bought it specifically for my Rikon bandsaw. Assembly was a pain but I managed. But this was absolutely useless when I put my saw on it. It does not move smoothly and forget about turning, you might as well pick the tool up and carry it. It would work better. I ended up buying the Harbor Freight brand and it was a significant improvement. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I bought this base for the G7944 drill press. It was easy to assemble and feels solid both with the drill press mounted to it (per the drill press instructions) and without. It's not the most maneuverable in small spaces, but that's to be expected with two non-swiveling casters; as long as you plan for it, it won't be a problem. Overall, this base is solid and keeps my drill press stable, and its compact footprint when I'm not moving it is great in my small shop.
