Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chicken Feeder Saver for You and Chicken Oh I really like this. We attached the unit outside the coop and thru the chicken wire. It allows me to fill without going into coop. Holds alot too so don't have to fill very often.

how many chickens do one feeder feed

Asked by: glenn1212
It all depends on how often you want to fill the feeder. We've used one feeder for as many as 20 but that means you have to fill the feeder everyday. Even with 20 birds, they all hang out and take turns feeding, so it really is up to you how often you want to refill the feeder. On average, I would say most people will buy 1 feeder for 5-6 birds and the feeder can last 4-5 days. Hope that answers your question.

How can you keep the water from freezing

Asked by: Jean Marie Maione
We are not able to prevent water from freezing. Waterer needs to be inside a coop where temp is not freezing.

How do we screw hooks in place on the pvc tube without causing the waterer to leak then?

Asked by: silkychick
The screw is a self tapping style and when you screw it in with the bracket, water will not leak.

I'm really frustrated that my food is getting stuck. I keep it dry, but the crumbles just seem to stop falling down and I have to give the thing a wrap to get it going again. Any solutions or tricks?

Asked by: Indigosecho
Please ensure that there is no debris, such as the manual in the tube. Typically, there is something blocking crumbles from falling.

Is the top a cap that can easily rests on the top or a rubber piece that "seals"? What kind of feed scoop would work with the opening at the top without having feed go everywhere? And last, how large is the openning for the chickens to get the feed?

Asked by: TL2018
The top is a plastic cap that goes over the tube so no water can get in. As for the scoop, a 3" wide scoop will be good. The opening for the chickens is about 4"

The specs for the feeder and the waterer both say 23in long but in pictures, the feeder appears to be a good deal longer. What are the exact dimensions of each?

Asked by: JDas
Feeder is 30" tall from top to bottom and the waterer fully assembled is 23" including the cup
