- A: Per the manufacturer: All of our Snake boots are tested with North American Eastern Diamondbacks rattlesnake or cottonmouth moccasin. We can not confirm nor deny, we encourage to avoid the snakes as much as possible. Also there is another kind of cobra that will spit venom at its prey, so eye protection is also encouraged to be used.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: Are the bottom soles a hard rubber? If so, will they keep thorns from penetrating into the shoe and stabbing the foot? I have been told snake boots are the only shoe which protects against such issues.

Q: Are there leather pieces on the outside of the boot? I want to ware them in a creek at times and would worry about damaging the leather (if it is leather).

I purchased two pairs of Rocky Snake Boots last month—one for myself and one for my wife. Overall, we have been very impressed with the quality and comfort of the boots. They are well built and surprisingly comfortable, even after wearing them all day in 98-degree weather.
The only significant downside, and one that has been mentioned in numerous other reviews, is the zipper system. When I first took my boots out of the box, I spent nearly five minutes struggling to get the zipper down. The issue appears to be that the fabric on the inside of the zipper area can get caught in the zipper track, making it extremely difficult to operate and, at times, frustrating to free.
Despite this issue, I really like the boots and would still recommend them. I give them 4 out of 5 stars. Rocky has a great product overall, but I strongly encourage the company to redesign or improve the zipper system. Fixing that issue would make an already excellent boot significantly better.

Perfect right out of box. Fits true and is comfortable for all day turkey hunts in the south. Looking forward to wearing them for fall bow season in the southern swamps.
