An Awesome Dog Food!

I breed show quality American Pit Bull Terriers and American Bullies. It was hard finding a dog food that would support the demand of conditioning these high energy dogs for shows. We started feeding Retriever Hi Protein about 6 months ago and absolutely LOVE the outcome. We feed it to puppies, adults, and seniors. The coats glisten, muscle tone is phenomenal, and they're health is superior.
I recommend this dog food to anyone and everyone who asks what I feed. Going through about 35lbs a day, the price is right on the money.

Only if it's all you can afford

I switched three of my dogs, a Boxer and two Doberman Pinschers, to this food, a little over a month ago. They were eating 4Health Performance, and thriving on it. I love that food, but our budget has been downsized dramatically recently, and I needed to find a less-expensive food. I realize this food has lesser quality ingredients, but I decided to try it out short term, until things get back to where they should be financially. These 3 dogs are super active. They run around outside nearly all day. They have to eat a high protein/high fat food just to keep weight on them. I made the change very gradually, but all three dogs had upset stomachs almost immediately and VERY BAD gas. After a week of eating the food straight, the gas subsided some, but the stools were very loose. I cut back the amount of food they were eating, and the stools did firm up some, but still not ideal. And, upon cutting back on their food, they began to loose weight. Every time I gradually increased their food, they got diarrhea and a dog can't gain weight when his GI tract is in distress. So, I will be shopping for another food. I would not recommend this food, unless you have absolutely no other choice, budget-wise, to feed it. And if you do, don't feed a lot of it at once. My plan is to next try some from the Sportmix brands.

Just going by what it says on the package. This sounds like a great dog food, lots of protein, all the nutritional requirements... but my dogs just won't eat it plain. I've tried moistening it, that helps a little, but I still have to encourage them to eat. I found that by adding a raw egg to it, that seems to be the best trick, but having to do that kind of defeats the purpose and I shouldn't have to add things for this to taste good to the target demographic.

The price for the brand is very affordable, especially while on a budget and have several dogs. I get mine from our local Tractor Supply store.
