Red dye transfers to hands and smells strange

Gave to my aussie a few times with her regular kibble. She has had then a few times but always coughs after eating them. There is so much red dye that it feels strange on my hands and transfers red to my hands. I had lost th e receipt and tried to take them back but they do not exchange or give refunds
