When the room temperature drops 1 degree below the set temperature, the heater/fan automatically turns on. This heater sends a tremendous amount of heat at a very rapid pace. Turns off at set temperatures as required and was a lower cost than expected for the quality that it produces. I would encourage anyone that is in need of an extra heater to warm those colder spots in the house to buy one. I went back and bought another. The safety factor was the most important for me. It is very safe to use around children because if it gets bumped or knocked over, it automatically turns off.. You can move it to any area desired so mobillity is a added feature.
