This shovel is fantastic! It's the perfect height for me and cuts through all sorts of stuff, even wretched red clay. I saw one when I was volunteering at a community gardening project and knew I had to have it. I bought it as a graduation present from me to me when I finished the Master Gardeners Training Course.

I purchased this to dig old roots and very small stumps out of my yard in southern Arizona. The tool is heavy and hefty, but it doesn't really do the job. I had expected one or two hacks and the roots would be severed. That didn't happen. Severing a root requires at least 20-30 chops and even then, it's often not enough. The teeth don't do anything to lessen the effort involved. Maybe I'm not using it properly or the Arizona roots/rocky soil aren't the right targets. However, for the price, I expected better performance. I would return it, but I've obviously used it.
