although i do not "slay" many roots with this shovel, it is a great digging down under a root and either thumping it if its small enough or cutting it with a saws-all either way you decide to use this shovel i think it is by far the best digging shovel i've had. It can easily dig 2 foot down with no issues. ive used it for digging post holes. i give it a thumbs up.

Great tool. Well worth the cost.

This is an absolute game changer. It cuts through thin roots like a knife through soft butter. Wot some effort, it cut through roots that were almost 2 inches thick. Though, at first, I thought the handle was strange, it was really easy to use it and the handle did not hurt my hand.
