Pump went out ten minutes after I plug it up

This pump is good for light duty applications and can only handle water free of caustic chemicals, it can't handle salt water. The impeller is some kind of hard plastic I got it just to partialy drain my sewer for diagnosis. It took about half an hour to just drop the fluid by 3 feet. It's very noisy but a change in pitch alerted me to an inlet clog. It came with a floor suction attachment but no hose was supplied for it, just a short 6' garden hose that couldn't be installed on the accessory. Included was a spare impeller and gasket and motor brushes. The instructions erroneously said they had to be assembled first.
