The Preen 5.625 lb. Garden Weed Preventer allows users to apply to prevent weed seeds from germinating. Spread this weed preventer on bedding areas and water in to provide garden weed control for up to 3 months. Use this weed control for flower beds in flower, shrub and all bedding areas. All existing weeds and grasses must be removed prior to use. Keeping up with your yard is easy when you have the help of some Preen weed killer.

- A: Hi! Apply Preen Garden Weed Preventer during the growing season around established plants and transplants. Do not use Preen Garden Weed Preventer on flower seeds. It can be used after flowering plants have germinated and are 2-3 inches tall. Preen Garden Preventer may also be incorporated into soil when seeding vegetables or applied after mulching bed. Since it does not kill existing weeds, you must first remove any that have already begun to grow. By applying Preen Garden Weed Preventer as early as possible you can eliminate the need for hand weeding. Rain does not wash this product out of the soil. Reapply Preen Garden Weed Preventer every 9-12 weeks.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: I was wondering if I should apply this to my flower bed before I rototill it over or after? I plan on laying weed barrier fabric and then mulch.

- A: Preen Garden Weed Preventer is not recommended for use around strawberries as the active ingredient may prevent the runners from spreading. The only Preen you may apply around strawberries safely is our Preen Vegetable Garden Weed Preventer Organic which lasts in the soil up to 6 weeks.9 years agoHelpful?

Here it will specify whether the Preen is to be applied before or after seeding/transplanting. Preen should be applied around the drip line of the particular vegetable, making sure the granules do not come in direct contact with the plant itself. Preen kills myrtle

I applied Preen to a myrtle bed to hopefully prevent Japanese stilt grass from emerging. Killed my myrtle. I will have to have landscaper plant grass or cover with landscaping stones.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great product

When spring comes, I weed my garden with a weed pole, easy, pick up some big ones, plant my new annuals and apply preen. No weeds grow. After a few weeks I turn my soil a bit with my weed tool and apply again. I love it. I like a weed free garden bed.

Prevents weeds from starting

I use this in my flower beds. It really deters weeds from growing. You spend less time pulling weeds when you do t have any. I do not use this in beds that have plants that drop seeds annually.
