Prednisolone acetate is a glucocorticoid medication. Based on weight, it has three to five times the anti-inflammatory strength of hydrocortisone. It inhibits the phagocytic migration, capillary dilation, fibrin deposition, and edema of the acute inflammatory response. It also prevents scar formation, collagen deposition, and capillary proliferation.

Special Precautions

• Could cause blurry vision.
• Do not touch dropper opening to hands, eyes, or any other surface.
• Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences difficulty breathing, itching, or swelling of the face.
• Discuss all other eye drops and medications your pet is taking with your veterinarian prior to use.

Overdose Information

Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.

Side Effects

Prolonged use could cause:

• Glaucoma and optic nerve damage
• Formation of posterior subcapsular cataracts
• Defects in fields of vision and visual acuity
• Suppression of the host immune response, leading to risk of secondary ocular infection

Storage

Protect from freezing. Store upright at temperatures up to 77°F (25°C).

Tips

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and apply the next one as directed. Never give a double dose.
