  • August gardenia plant is found in its 3 inches wide, creamy white flowers which bloom all summer long and tantalize anyone who walks by! The dark green leaves will contrast the white blooms nicely all the way until fall when the blooms are complete.
  • The sweet fragrance attracts butterflies and other insects to your garden especially if mass planted. You may also use the blossoms as cut flowers in bouquets or centerpieces on your kitchen table. Gardenias have been around for thousands of years and it is no secret as to why John Ellis started growing this plant in the US in 1761.
  • The August Beauty gardenia can grow anywhere from 4 to 6 feet tall at full maturity and around 3 to 4 feet wide. If grown from seed, the august gardenia takes about 2 to 3 years to reach maturity and produce flowers. Our August Beauty gardenia for sale are grown and ready to start producing flowers so after you receive them and get them planted.
  • Grow gardenia across the southern United States in USDA growing zones 7-9. Commonly seen in South Carolina yards and gardens or any southern landscape.
  • Caring for the August Beauty gardenia is easy to do. Gardenia Augusta actively grows in full sun to partial shade. The August gardenia likes a planting site with morning sun and afternoon shade. Be sure to protect it from the afternoon sun to make the sweetly fragrant flowers last as long as possible.
  • The August Beauty gardenia has a long bloom period and starts to bloom in mid-spring through summer. An august gardenia will have heavy blooming during that 3 month period. Be sure to water at least once a week, or more in high heat temperatures over 80F, to keep your Gardenia Augusta happy and blooming during the hot summer sun.
  • The best time to prune the August Beauty Gardenia is in the late winter, usually around February or March. Pruning the Gardenia Augusta while it's dormant helps ensure that it will devote its energy into growing how you've shaped it as the spring growing season starts.
  • The August Beauty Gardenia shade plant is easy to grow and likes organically rich matter such as peat moss or mulch to enrich with nutrients it may be lacking. Gardenia plants like a liquid gardenia fertilizer or acidic fertilizer in early spring which will encourage more fragrant blooms. Deadheading the spent buds will promote additional gardenia flowers.
