The MTD Lawn Mower Mulch Kit switches the tractor from packing mode to mulching mode, to finely shred grass clippings and release them to the ground. This lawn mower mulch kit reduces the need for additional nitrogen fertilizer by returning nutrients to the soil. The lawn mower mulch kit can include several pieces. This lawn mower mulch kit includes blades with a 6-point star center hole pattern, one molded plug and mounting hardware. These blades included with the lawn mower mulch kit cuts grass cleanly and makes their way through grass more efficiently, reducing overall mowing time and effort.

This didnt exactly fit my machine. I suspect there were some minor changes to the deck between the manufacture of my machine and today. I was able to fit and secure it with the addition of 2 small screws on either end to get the plastic to snug up to the deck opening.

Does a nice job with my lawn

I like the way it cuts. It does need to be “cleaned out” so to speak, the grass clippings will sometimes push hard enough against the chute block that it opens slightly but that doesn’t bother me too much. It does a good job with the lawn and was easy to install.
