Rated 5 out of 5 by from Operator Error Before / Now Very Happy I first got very frustrated with the product because I am one of those men that doesn’t believe in reading instructions. After trying to used was very disappointed until I was looking for other torches/ burners and figured I’d take a look on YouTube at this product and realized what I was doing wrong the entire time. Slightly open the valve on tank is all you need to get a very strong powerful flame. Opened too much will NOT allow the torch to work properly. Adjust valve on handle as you see fit. Open or close slightly on handle but tank slightly opened all the time. Also while using shake your tank every now and then or have the valve facing down towards the hose laying tank on its side. Very happy customer now for sure.

What type of propane tank is require.

Asked by: Brohammer
This torch requires at minimum a 20 lb propane cylinder, but a larger tank would be more suitable.

Is this a good tool for burning fields i.e. a standard use for this propane tank? I want to burn some switch grass fields on the farm.

Asked by: smelter
Yes, its used in weeds in suburban areas but probably not big enough for farm bio mass coverage. Mr Heater

The flame is very strond for only asecond then slows way back. Is this normal. Full tank of propane.

Asked by: Franka
Yes. This behavior can be normal with volume of gas escapes before ignition and the volume of gas coming out a second later. With the burning gas as it comes out the volume and density of the flame becomes consistent and uniform. Hope this helps Rich Mr heater

How wide is the tip on this? Will be using as a burner for a propane forge, and don't want too large.

Asked by: Smelter guy
Hi Smelter guy, I understand but I can not give that information... the application and manufacturing is for the designed purpose. Rich Mr Heater

I used the torch to burn grass on my crushed asphalt driveway, did not burn the grass. I had a good flame but, it just didn't do anything. Is this normal?

Asked by: rita70
Your hose may have had the excess flow device activated accidentally by the propane tank. That is a device that exists in the large brass fitting that screws into the propane tank that will prevent or restrict gas from flowing out of a tank and through the hose in the event of a leak or tear in the hose. This device will sometimes become activated accidentally when we open the valve on a propane tank too quickly, or a propane tank has been filled too much. Try disconnecting the brass fitting from the propane tank, tapping the fitting that came off of/out of the tank against the tank or workbench 2 - 3 times to reset he device, reconnect it to the tank, and then opening the tank valve knob very slowly (1/4 turn then wait a second. Then 1/4 turn and wait...till the valve is about 1 full turn open then open it normally) to restore proper gas flow to the heater. If that doesn't work, please call our technical service department at 800-251-0001 M-F between 8am and 5pm EDT.
