Q: Product details say solar panel connectors are included. If I use 4 rechargeable AA batteries will panel keep them charged? Does Moultrie or Tractor Supply sell a compatible solar panel for this feeder?

  • A: Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately the All In One series feeder kits only operate with AA batteries. We do not recommend rechargeable batteries for operation. If you are looking for a feeder kit that is compatible and can operate with a solar panel here is a link to our Pro-Hunter lll https://www.moultrie.com/pro-hunter-iii-feeder-kit

Q: Is the spinner plate removable so it would just dump the food instead of spreading it? I'm trying to find a timed feeder I could use outdoors to feed my horse grain in between hay feedings when I can't get to the barn (ie middle of the day/night.)

  • A: Moultrie Feeders use ¼” Whole Kernel Corn. Please see below for further information about our recommended feed types. Whole, clean kernel corn is recommended. Corn mixed with soybeans or pellets is also effective for attracting and feeding deer. Feed should be around .25 inches in diameter. However, mixing corn with soybeans or pellets could cause clogging depending on the ratio of corn to additive or the type/brand of additive When not mixed with corn, some protein-pellet type feeds will absorb moisture and swell. This can clog the feeder and keep it from working properly. We recommend using one of our various gravity feeders for feeding protein pellets. Do not use feeds that contain mineral powders in them. The minerals and salts will cause corrosion and rust on metal spinning parts which can prevent spinner from working properly over time. We recommend using one of our various gravity feeders for feeding feeds blended with powdered minerals.

Does What I Wanted

Got this feeder for my chickens. The four option timmer and feed rate adjustment made this perfect for the growing flock. Had to cut bottom out of a plastic flower pot andslide up over the discharge. Without it, this feeder would throw the feed far outside the chicken run.

Poor

I bought this last spring to feed my free range chickens. I set it for once a day for 2 seconds. The batteries becomes too weak to throw out the feed between week 3 and 4 . The time on the clock is usually wrong once the batteries become weak. Have used Duracell and Energizer batteries. I am not happy at all due to monthly replacement of batteries. . The only good thing, it works long enough for me to take two week vacations.

We used this to feed

We used this to feed our barn cats while we were on vacation. We added a couple feet of 8” hvac vent tube to the bottom so it made more of a pile than a scattering. Worked great.
