HANDYMAN MUST-HAVE

I appreciate the great value, reasonable cost, fast working time and flexibility to use as much or as little as I need. This is a pro product that takes some practice to get master. If you like premeasured products that give you more working time or products that don't require mixing then buy those other options. I carry this on my truck to every job site as a handyman and use it all the time. It's one of my top 10 most frequently used products I couldn't go without.

Zero stars. Filled numerous cracks...let dry...sanded 150/220, All looked good. UNTIL I STAINED the wood. (Alder and poplar) Blotches and streaks remained. Can't color match. Stuck with an ugly door until I figure out what to do.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Minwax 2-part Wood Filler Needs More Hardener

A good product, but "guesstimating" what 1/16 th of the blob of filler you scooped into a cup to get the right amount of hardener is nearly impossible. I've used this stuff many times and have always run out of hardener before the can is empty. Come on Minwax, just double the amount of hardener (item # E4520000A) with each can (i.e. 1.0 oz with 6 oz can! Do us home fixit people a solid.

How to measure 16:1 ratio

Get a scale, analog or digital. I recommend the latter. Place a paper plate or what ever you want to use for a mixing pallet. Zero out the scale and place 16 units of filler and add 1 unit or hardener. Start with small quantities if this is your first time using this product. An accurate 16;1 ratio will definitely set quick.
