- A: Majic All-Purpose Oil Base Primer, 8-2480, has a heat rating to 160-180° F. – and not recommended for this exposure… A BBQ pit will require a coating with heat resistance between 1300-2000° F.5 years agoHelpful?

- A: Majic All Purpose Enamel Shop Primer is a good quality, utility-grade product, suitable for use on wood, metal and masonry surfaces. Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Red Oxide Primer, or Sandable Gray Primer would be a better choice for use on properly prepared fiberglass. Be sure the surface is clean, and free of all dust, dirt, loose or flaking paint, and other surface issues that may inhibit the adhesion of primer…Fiberglass is a smooth, slick surface – a greater mechanical bond between the FG and oil base primer will be realized if the surface is scuff sanded prior to priming w/80-100 grit paper.7 years agoHelpful?

not as good as rustoleum

thinner than rustoleum rusty metal, cheaper though $1.50 less. took much longer then rustoleum to dry to touch. probably wouldn't buy again unless in a pinch.not best but not worst primer in world. will see how it wears. majic all purpose red was decent paint.

Bought a quart for priming a bandsaw. I brushed a few areas that were hard to spray and it doesn't flow out well being brushed. Sprayed it's Ok. The problem is that the drying time is way way longer than on the can. I came back to topcoat a day and a half later and it;'s still wet in spots. Wet enough to easily leave fingerprints in the paint.
No, I do not recommend this product.
