Other reviews mention using this only outdoors, although this is technically an indoor dutch oven or "bean pot". I used a pot like this over the open fire for many years before I got a camp dutch oven with legs. This works great indoors or out and Lodge quality can't be beat. Do yourself a favor and mix up some cobbler this winter and throw this right in your oven. You are missing out if you only use this when you go camping.

I bought two of the dutch ovens for my son for Christmas. He is the leader of a new Scout Troop and they have limited funds with which to accumulate camping gear. The boys love to camp and cook outdoors but they didn't have enough dutch ovens when they invited other patrols to camp with them. They are thrilled with the addition of the two dutch ovens and can't wait to show off their skills at making the perfect fruit cobbler!
