Made From Carbon Steel

The rings and screws are made from carbon steel. The blueing is not sufficient to prevent rust if they get a bit damp (or rained on) while hunting, and aren’t throughly dried each day, prior to putting the rifle in a case.

Unfinished or sloppy tapping

When you buy Leupold you usually get what you pay for. This time fell a little short. Tried to attach the rings to the rifle. Screws were tough going in and would not tighten. When I remove the screw, the threads were being flattened. Went and got my tap and ran it thru the holes. The two holes for the screws to tighten the ring to the rifle were very rough. After running the tap thru the holes, the screws went in fine and the rings snugged up nicely. I was able to torque them down and they look to be holding. On the good side they look rugged with a great appearance.
