Four years later, still a great vise.
I bought this vise about four years ago and have used it for various projects including holding metal bars while sawing, compressing frozen hydraulic actuators, holding mower blades while sharpening, holding for drilling wood, metal, and plastic. I have cranked down on it pretty hard, even using an extension pipe or hammer to tighten it to hold materials and it has held everything I have put in it without any problems. I have been completely happy with this vise. The only maintenance I have done is blowing out metal shavings with an air nozzle and greasing the main jaw threads.
It does cost a little more than the "regular" duty vises, but I believe it is worth it, especially considering the problems that others seem to have with the non-heavy duty ones of the same brand.

Larin Worst Vise Ever
Larin make the worse vise out thee bar none. It is at the bottom of the list. For over a hundred years vise's have been poured into a single, solid chunk of metal - strong, solid, almost unbreakable. Larin is using pot metal and casting their vises which break under medium use. I contacted the company and they won't admit or stand up behind their product - STAY AWAY FROM LARIN vises.

Complete junk, weak thin metal, threads strip, wil
9 months ago
So cheaply made. I had to replace the piece of metal underneath that clamps the swivel mechanism in place as the existing one was very thin and the threads stripped. Now I'll be doing the same for another internal bolt. Avoid this if you have any other options. All I've been using this for is holding a chainsaw to sharpen the teeth.

A bit sloppy
The middle of the vise holds well. The outside / sides of the vise loosen and objects slip.
