I got a whole case of 12 but only needed 5 to do 2 coats top and bottom. It covers really well, but the sprayer tip clogs a bit and spatters so you have to tip it upside down and blow it out some. If not for that it would have 5stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product for rust and corrosion protection in tough/outdoor environments, but I also found a lot of great off-label uses for the product, on the cosmetic side of renovation. It dries really quick and smooth and is super handy. Painting metal is usually a REAL problem. You have to scuff the surface, prime it, then paint it, then seal it - and even then, water and friction tend to take you down to the bare metal over time. I’ve tried this with shower door frames when remodeling bathrooms (because there’s always local used chrome/silver/gold frames for cheap), metal cabinet handles, and the structural reinforcement plates you use on decks and wood beams. The last one is crucial because you can really increase the polish of a project by not leaving that ugly dull silver finish on those. With the krylon, all of these things get easier! 1. If you paint your topcoat within the first two hours after applying the krylon tough coat (give it maybe 30 mins), they bond/cure together. So your top coat is much more durable and has its own water resistance. Now instead of a layer of paint on the shower door frames that sloughs off over time, there’s an actual tough coating WITH my finish color! The black krylon was a good base for an “oil-rubbed bronze” finish. 2. The krylon binds to the bare metal, so for those structural plates, you can paint them in place, WITHOUT SCUFFING. This is a huge benefit especially on a deck or beam that’s already finished. Black Krylon Tough Coat is all you need. 3. The cabinet handles get both benefits. They become super resistant, which is great because they’ll be touched constantly! And with the odd/ornate shapes we had for the handle mounts, we saved probably a whole day of sanding by using the krylon tough coat advanced as our “primer”. Once again, black was a great base to reach the final copper finish we wanted - see the before and after in my photo. I’m always going to keep a can in my workshop from now on. Awesome versatile product. Can’t wait to use it on my fence projects as well to keep them maintenance-free and looking nice for years.
