After about eight years with my First Alert SC05 (installed in December 2018), the lower stairwell detector at my dinning room started going off randomly... likely triggered by humidity from nearby kitchen appliances like my Instant Pot or dishwasher...even after cleaning/blowing air into it. That was my sign it was time to upgrade. I picked up this replacement model for $27.99 at Tractor Supply (great deal!) and installed it near my kitchen and upstairs hallway. Installation was quick and straightforward, though I wish smoke detector manufacturers used universal mounting brackets. This one didn’t match my old setup, so I had to remove the previous bracket and deal with new screw holes... nothing major, but a small inconvenience. Once installed, the test button worked perfectly. Both of my detectors let out a crisp, loud beep (maybe even louder than my old First Alert) and a clear voice alert for smoke or carbon monoxide detection. The LED indicators are bright and easy to notice. My only real disappointment is the battery setup. I’ve been seeing a lot of “10-year battery life” detectors lately and assumed this was one of those. Unfortunately, it uses standard AA batteries, which the manual recommends changing every six months... or sooner if you hear that dreaded low-battery chirp at 2 a.m. (which is how my luck usual goes!) Overall, for $27.99, it’s a reliable, well-built unit that was easy to install and test. I just wish it had a built-in long-life battery. This is a great basic smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. I like the fact that it works for both, and that it’s voice activated. It was very easy to set up, no complaints here.

I recieved Kiddie DETECT | Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm free to try for my honest opinion. Installation was easy. It is powered by 2 AA batteries that come with it. It has self testing components to ensure it is working as expected 24/7. The voice alerts are nice because it will tell you exactly why the alarm is going off (fire, carbon monoxide) so you can react to the situation quickly. The batteries last up to 10 years & the device has voice alerts that will tell you when it’s time to replace the batteries. I definitely recommend!

I tested it and it worked . We put in basement in a game room. I gave 4 stars only because we thankfully haven’t had to use it yet. The alert sound isn’t too loud but perfect and well enough to hear and voice activate is loud enough. I think this is a reputable brand. This one isn’t hard wired , so I will have to check batteries yearly . Recommend
