Didn't even last 1 year, let alone 10!

I bought this in Spring of 2025, and here I sit in December with it chirping randomly. No matter how many times I reset it or try to stop it, it continues to chirp randomly throughout the week. And I can't get it off the wall. So today, I am ready to smash it with a hammer and replaster... that's how crazy I am from the chirping of this garbage alarm. You too, can have this experience... just buy one of these "10-year battery" alarms! But I'd pass, if I were you. UPDATE: E-mail response was to replace the battery. Ummm... that's the reason I bought the 10-yr and they're not supposed to be replaced anyway, sooo... maybe that's someone new? Anyway, I called, and the nice gentleman on the phone says they're sending me a replacement. So I will enthrall you with my updates if anything goes wrong with the alarm in the next few months. We'll see!

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. A chirp every 60 seconds is the alarm’s low-battery alert. Please install fresh, approved batteries and press and hold the Test/Hush button until the alarm sounds (i.e., reset alarm) to confirm operation. If the chirp continues after replacing the batteries and resetting the alarm, please contact Kidde Customer Support at 1-800-880-6788 so we can assist further.

DOESN'T WORK. IMMEDIATELY GIVES FALSE ALARMS

Read all the other reviews and see that nearly all the 5 star reviews are from incentivized/paid people. My product got the dreaded fault alarm after 1 month of use. They are extremely expensive and don't last 10 years. Do better KIDDIE!

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. Nuisance alarms can occur for different reasons which include common things like —cooking, aerosols, steam, or dust entering the sensor. Here are some tips to help solve this… you can use the Hush feature if safe to do so (i.e., confirming there is no actual fire), clean the alarm thoroughly with compressed air into sensor openings, and ensure it’s placed away from kitchens and bathrooms, as well as HVAC vents and fans. If the behavior continues after cleaning and relocating, please contact 1-800-880-6788 for additional support or replacement options.

A steady green light on hardwired units typically means AC power is present, while a slow green flash on battery units indicates normal standby. If you see rapid red flashes with beeps or voice prompts, follow the instructions for that alarm pattern included in the product manual which can be found on our Kidde.com. For model-specific LED meanings, please consult your user guide or contact us at 1-800-880-6788.

Worse than having nothing installed.

I installed this yesterday and already regret purchasing it. It started beeping this morning, less than 24 hours after activation. I pressed the reset button to clear the error, then after a few hours it started again and has a false fire alarm.

No, I do not recommend this product.
