Failed after 10 months.

bought 10 months ago and it already started beeping every 60 seconds indicating bad battery. It is supposed to last 10 years NOT 10 MONTHS! I bought them for the whole house, so I hope the others don't fail too. BATTERY IS NOT REPLACEABLE, YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER WHOLE SMOKE DETECTOR! What!!!

Thanks for your message and for reaching out to Kidde. A chirp every 60 seconds is the alarm’s low-battery alert. Please install fresh, approved batteries and press and hold the Test/Hush button until the alarm sounds (i.e., reset alarm) to confirm operation. If the chirp continues after replacing the batteries and resetting the alarm, please contact Kidde Customer Support at 1-800-880-6788 so we can assist further.

Quality Kidde smoke detector was an excellent replacement and easy to install. Ten year battery is a great feature to keep the detector active without having to replace batteries every fall. I suggest you make sure and place an install date on the mounting base to remind you of your install date when checking or testing the detector.

AWFUL!!!!

after having to replace our alarms once our old ones expired, the kiddie models false alarm sometimes multiple times a day. hard wired so the entire house can hear it at 4am. do not buy these. i cant sleep or focus or relax because i am constantly paranoid about this alarm going off again because it happens so often. terrible terrible product.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Nuisance alarms can occur for different reasons which include common things like —cooking, aerosols, steam, or dust entering the sensor. Here are some tips to help solve this… you can use the Hush feature if safe to do so (i.e., confirming there is no actual fire), clean the alarm thoroughly with compressed air into sensor openings, and ensure it’s placed away from kitchens and bathrooms, as well as HVAC vents and fans. If the behavior continues after cleaning and relocating, please contact 1-800-880-6788 for additional support or replacement options.
