Kidde Smoke Alarm Detector 10 Year Battery

We bought a pair of these and installed them in the same spots we’d used 9V battery-powered units for the last 5 years in our home. The first one went off after 4-5 months, alarm blaring and the voice recording warning us of smoke/fire. It went off at 1 am. There was no smoke, and no fire. My air quality monitoring system showed good air quality everywhere in the house. The second smoke detector did exactly the same thing three months later. In both cases the units kept going off Gen in clear outdoor air. The only way to stop them from waking up the entire neighborhood was to disable them permanently. We exchanged them for a new set thinking it was a faulty batch. Within 6 months the second two units did the same thing. And again, regardless of how good the air quality is in my home, the units wouldn’t stop going off until they were permanently disabled. These smoke detectors are either way too sensitive, or they have a very high failure rate.

bought 10 months ago and it already started beeping every 60 seconds indicating bad battery. It is supposed to last 10 years NOT 10 MONTHS! I bought them for the whole house, so I hope the others don't fail too. BATTERY IS NOT REPLACEABLE, YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER WHOLE SMOKE DETECTOR! What!!!

Quality Kidde smoke detector was an excellent replacement and easy to install. Ten year battery is a great feature to keep the detector active without having to replace batteries every fall. I suggest you make sure and place an install date on the mounting base to remind you of your install date when checking or testing the detector.

after having to replace our alarms once our old ones expired, the kiddie models false alarm sometimes multiple times a day. hard wired so the entire house can hear it at 4am. do not buy these. i cant sleep or focus or relax because i am constantly paranoid about this alarm going off again because it happens so often. terrible terrible product.
