KBS XTC Xtreme Temperature Coating in Flame Blue is a high heat paint built for metal that runs hot, rated for continuous service up to 1500 F once heat cured. It goes on exhaust manifolds, headers, mufflers, tractor exhaust stacks, wood stove and furnace exteriors, grill and smoker exteriors, and engine parts, and it will not peel, blister, or discolor when the heat comes on. With proper prep it gives excellent corrosion and weather resistance, and zinc rich XTC Primer under it on bare steel adds even more rust protection. Flame Blue is a bright blue for engine parts and custom exhaust work. Spray or brush two thin coats about 1 to 2 mils each, wait at least 8 hours, then heat cure at about 350 F for 20 to 30 minutes to bring the resins to full hardness. One gallon covers about 360 sq ft per coat at 1 mil. Made in the USA.The surface must be clean, dry, and free of rust, oil, and old paint. Sandblasting is ideal; wire brushing or sanding with 60 to 80 grit also works. Then wash with KBS Klean diluted 10 to 1, rinse, and dry. Bare steel benefits from a coat of XTC Primer. Mix thoroughly, ideally with a drill mounted mixer, touching the bottom of the can and lifting to disperse settled pigment. Apply between 50 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Apply two thin coats about 1 to 2 mils each, 1 to 2 hours apart, since heavy coats cause problems. Let the final coat dry at least 8 hours, then heat cure at about 350 F for 20 to 30 minutes in an oven or by reinstalling the part and running the engine or equipment, avoiding excessive heat during that first heat up and keeping the area ventilated. XTC can be thinned up to 5 percent with KBS number 1 Thinner. Clean up with KBS number 1 Thinner or lacquer thinner.
