KBS Coatings System Sampler, Gloss Black

The KBS System Sampler Kit lets you try the complete 3 step rust prevention system on a small project before buying a larger kit. It includes 8 oz each of KBS Klean, RustBlast, and RustSeal in Gloss Black, plus nitrile gloves, two brushes, a stir stick, and full instructions, enough to clean, prep, and coat up to 12.5 sq ft with two coats of RustSeal. Use it on a hitch, a gate latch, a mower deck patch, a toolbox, or a rusty bracket to see how RustSeal seals rust and stops it from coming back. RustSeal is not UV stable, so topcoat sun exposed parts with KBS BlackTop or KBS Top Coater. When you are ready for a full frame, the Frame Coater Kit covers about 50 sq ft.Knock off loose rust and flaking paint with a wire brush, wire wheel, or 320 grit sandpaper. Clean with KBS Klean and rinse, and avoid solvent based cleaners that leave a residue. Treat rusted metal with RustBlast to etch the surface, then rinse and dry completely. Apply RustSeal between 55 and 82 F in moderate to dry conditions, never in rain or on a damp surface. Do not shake the can. Stir thoroughly, pour a working amount into a separate container, and reseal the can. Apply at least 2 thin coats at about 2 mils each. Recoat once the last coat leaves no fingerprint, typically 2 to 6 hours. Thin only with KBS number 1 Thinner or xylene. Topcoat with KBS Top Coater or BlackTop between 3 and 8 hours after the last RustSeal coat, or after 24 hours with a 320 grit scuff.
