Q: What is the speed rating for these tires. Is there an M stamped on the tire

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! This tire assembly is officially rated with a speed symbol "L," which corresponds to a maximum safe speed of 75 MPH. There is not an "M" stamped on the sidewall, but rather that "L" code located right next to the load index mark to indicate its highway capability.

Q: What are the measurements between the bolt holes?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, the Hi-Run 4.80-12 Trailer Tire features a standard 4-on-4 inch bolt pattern, meaning the distance between the centers of two opposing bolt holes is exactly 4 inches. This measurement is taken diagonally across the center of the hub and is a common specification for small utility and boat trailers.

Q: How many miles can the tires provide on a boat trailer?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi there, There is no mileage warranty/guarantee on any small trailer tire this would include boat trailer tire. As far as how long they should last, that would depend on several factors. 1. Driving habits and road conditions. 2. Condition of the trailer. 3. Tire maintenance (tire pressure and loading within maximum loading capacity).

Q: Do you think I could use this replacement tire, on a boat trailer that has 4.80/4.00-8?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi there, this Hi-Run ASB1051 4.80-12 tire/rim combo will be too big for your 4.80/4.00-8 original boat trailer tire. Instead, please check out Hi-Run ASB1050 for the exact size (TSC sku#303068): tire size 4.80/4.00-8, rim with 4 lug holes.

Q: Center hole size for this tire and rim?  The ones I would like to replace have a center hole of 21/2 inches.  It is secured by bolts so I believe I need the exact size.

1 Answer
  • A: Center hole is a little larger than 2 1/2 inches. Same with my old trailer- it will easily go over the 2 1/2 inch part that goes through rim.

Both tires split down the middle of the tread !

Bought a pair and loaded about 400lbs per tire, much under the rating. Within 20 miles of 40mph driving both tires exploded, split at a seam down the middle of the tread. They each popped with such force to bend my wheel fender considerably. I had to put on 10yr old tires as spares and they lasted the rest of the 30 mile trip home.

No, I do not recommend this product.
