The G0510Z 1 HP is an upgrade for hobbyists and cabinet shops over using stand-alone routers. To give the user a wide range of flexibility, it can use both shaper cutters and router bits. Shaper cutters are larger and generally last longer than router bits.
If you plan on cutting many linear feet of a certain profile, then shaper cutters are the best choice. Router bits are cheaper than shaper cutters and come in a wider range of profiles and sizes. If you plan on making smaller projects that do not require many linear feet of cutting, then router bits are the economical choice. The G0510Z shaper includes two table inserts with inside openings of 1-3/8" and 1-3/4". The table counterbore without an insert installed is 3" in diameter. Use the smallest opening that a particular cutter will allow. This offers more support for the workpiece and reduces the amount of chips that can fall into the machine. Equipped with a forward and reverse switch, the shaper, in most cases, should be run in the forward direction. The 1 HP motor rotates the 3"-long, 1/2" diameter spindle at 13,200 RPM. Each side of the fence is independently adjustable to compensate for different cutting thicknesses and special shaping applications. The G0510Z manual was written by our U.S.-based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your shaper.Looking for more information on tools?
