All three batteries are used at the same time while mowing. The battery compartment is divided into three power sections: one battery position powers the drive system, one powers the right blade, and one powers the left blade. Each section requires an active battery for the mower to operate properly. This model includes four batteries, adding a fourth battery does not increase power output, but it does help extend overall mowing time by rotating battery usage more efficiently. Greenwood’s electric riding lawn neighbors

I am disappointed with the cutting because it isn’t a crisp cut like a gas powered mower. This model has only one blade for mowing maybe that is the reason. It is convenient as I am an elderly female trying to stay independent. I could not recommend nor not recommend this product. Be sure you have someone who is able to assemble the mower when it arrives. Tractor Supply just has a company delivery it in a steel frame and off they go. It will take your husband, son, or someone to uncrate and get it ready for use. The grass Shute is very awkward.
