Q: Product details, can it be used on induction cooktop
10 days ago1 Answer
- A: Howdy neighbor! The classic Granite Ware 21.5-quart Water Bath Canner will not work on an induction cooktop because its corrugated, wavy bottom prevents the flat magnetic connection needed to heat the pot [walmart.com]. Additionally, a fully loaded canner weighs over 50 pounds, which risks permanently cracking or scratching a smooth glass induction stove.8 days agoHelpful?
Q: Can canner be used in oven to roast a large ham
a month ago1 Answer
- A: Howdy neighbor! While the Granite Ware water bath canner is oven-safe and tough enough to handle the heat, its massive 14-inch height makes it highly impractical because it likely won't clear the top heating elements in a standard oven. The pot's thin base can also cause your ham's sugary juices to burn quickly, and reaching deep into a hot oven to lift a heavy, greased-filled pot by its thin side handles poses a real burn hazard.a month agoHelpful?
Q: Can this be used on induction cook top? It has to be magnetic to a magnet. Made with steel, not aluminum.
5 months ago1 Answer
- A: While the Granite Ware 21.5 qt. Water Bath Canner is made of porcelain-enameled steel and is magnetic, it is not recommended for use on induction cooktops.5 months agoHelpful?
Q: Does it have a smooth bottom?

- A: No, the standard Granite Ware Water Bath Canner does not have a smooth or flat bottom.6 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can you use for shrimp boil?
6 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, you can use this water bath canner as a large pot for a shrimp boil. It has even heat distribution, holds plenty of boiling water, and the included rack makes it easy to lift food out. Make sure to clean it well before and after use.6 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can we get a steamer insert for this canner?
8 months ago1 Answer
- A: Yes, you can get a steamer insert for the Granite Ware 21.5 qt. Water Bath Canner and Rack. While the canner comes with a rack for holding jars, other compatible inserts can be purchased separately for steaming food.8 months agoHelpful?
Q: I used this pot sterilize my jars and then to do the water canning for 45 minutes of my sauce. But I now feel that I have to throw everything out because when I went to wash the pot, all the ink on the inside of the pot was coming off.

- A: Hello, thank you for writing in. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience with your Granite Ware Water Bath Canner. Your safety is our top priority, and we completely understand your concern regarding the ink coming off inside the pot. Q: Will this pot work on an induction stovetop?
9 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Flat cooktops such as glass, ceramic, and induction can not take the canner as it is not flat on the bottom. In the cases of glass and ceramic cooktops, the uneven bottom will allow excessive heat to build, which can crack the cooktop.9 months agoHelpful?

Bought this as a first time canner. Was pleased with the size. Good canning results with water bath canning. Feels a bit safer as a begginer.

Rack Rusted After One Month
At first I loved it. But after only one month, the "stainless steel" rack rusted and filled the canner and all of my jars with rusty water! It rusted at every joint where it had been spot welded. Now I have to find a replacement rack that won't rust. Love the pot, hate the rack!

Damaged in shipping
I was very disappointed to get the item home and discover the pot had a 3" dent in the bottom edge and all the paint in that area had flaked off. Clearly it was mishandled in shipping. However, the pot is still functional. In an effort to reduce waste in landfills, I've kept the pot - damage and all. I just wish TSC had made more effort to protect the pot in shipping. It had been shipped in a think plastic bag with no protective padding.
Yes, I recommend this product.
