Does it contain lead? What other chemicals are present that I need to be aware of? I'm planning to use this as bed for compost and raised beds (hardware cloth will be in contact with soil)

Asked by: DJ17

Can this be cut down to a specific height?

Asked by: Chila
Thank you for your inquiry. Our rolled wire can be cut using wire cutters. Best, Product Support.

Is this hot dip galvanized? What is the expected life when buried in the ground?

Asked by: ETX gardener
Thank you for sharing your project inquiry. Origin Point 48 in. x 100 ft. Hardware Cloth with 1/2 in. Mesh, Model #134800RP, is hot dip galvanized after the welding process. Although the galvanization process is executed to prevent premature rust or corrosion, there are hundreds of types of soil and performance in various soils is hard to predict. If you would like to discuss your project or any products in additional detail, please contact our customer care team at 800-607-6409. Best, Product Support.

Is this product carcinogenic? Is it safe for pets?

Asked by: Bearded_dragon
Thank you for your inquiry. Our hardware cloth is galvanized for extended life and added durability. Galvanized wire is used around the world as farm and garden fencing and for pet containment. While we have not been made aware of any situations where zinc run-off has occurred and contaminated any vegetables or livestock, you may want to consider alternative options if you are highly concerned of the potential risk. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care team at 800-607-6409. Best, Product Support.

Will this keep snakes/ frogs out? We are going to put it around our fenced in pool area.

Asked by: Mortysm
This hardware cloth has a ½” mesh opening so it should do a good job of keeping larger critters out. We cannot say for certain if it would keep out all frogs and snakes. Smaller animals may still be able to get through the mesh.
