The Gallagher SmartFence 2 is a fully self-contained portable electric fencing system that sets up in minutes without hauling separate posts, reels, or wire. Four strands of polywire each 328 ft. long are pre-attached to 10 rigid posts and integrated reels, all packed into a single 16 lb. unit. To deploy, simply place the end post in the ground and walk the line all four wires unreel simultaneously as you step each post in. The top wire sits at 36-1/2 in. after installation, suitable for cattle, sheep, and other livestock in rotational grazing, strip grazing, temporary paddocks, orchard grazing, hay bale protection, and roadside grazing situations. It works as a standalone fence or connects to a permanent fence or another SmartFence unit for longer runs, and it's equally useful as a quick patch for problem areas on an existing permanent fence. Pushing or striking the integrated reel/post holders can easily snap the plastic housing. Instead of using a rubber mallet, if you encounter hard or dry ground conditions, you should reposition the wire. Move the bottom wire to the lowest lug on the post.
